One year ago today....

We got married! Hard to believe it has been a year already since this:

We decided to celebrate our anniversary by getting out and enjoying as many things about where we live as possible. We started the day at Polly's Pancake Parlor where they have possibly the best pancakes ever. It is 100 miles from home so the pancakes better be worth it...they are! Today, of course, was Matty's first trip to Pollys and he enjoyed every minute of it. Here's a picture of Matty riding Trot Trot (With Andrew's help).

Next, we headed to The Flume...a nice 2 mile hike through the woods and a hands on viewing of the largest gorge in NH. It was such a perfect day for a hike and Matty enjoyed his ride in the Moby Wrap. We are looking forward to more hikes in the future with our little guy!

We then headed for Kittery Maine to Chauncey Creek Pier for lobster. I decided to skip the actual lobster so that I wouldn't get lobster guts and goo all over Matty if he needed something so I got the lobster roll instead. Andrew, however, got the full lobster and even shared in with Matty.

The best part of our day was when we got home and were relaxing on the couch with Matty. He started to smile and giggle like we have never seen before and was entertaining us for several minutes...Andrew was able to catch this quick picture...he just melts our hearts!

Now it's time to end the day with a piece of our wedding cake that has been in the freezer for a year! We'll see how the carrot cake held up!

6 weeks old...

Ooops...forgot to post this yesterday...Matty's 6 week picture on his chair. I took 4 pictures and this is the best one, he wasn't having it yesterday but he sure is getting big!!!

Weekly photo...

We got this very cute chair for Matty from his Aunt Rachel (thanks Rach!) and took a couple of pictures of him on it the first day we got it when he was only 12 days old...

Our plan was to take a picture of him every week on the chair to see how much he is growing. Fast forward 3 weeks later and we realized we haven't done this since the first picture! So here's my attempt to stay committed to doing this, I am going to take a picture every Sunday and post on our blog! Here's the one from today...he definitely has grown!

I just realized he is wearing the same onesie in both pictures too...that wasn't planned but maybe we'll keep doing it...until he outgrows it!

Muses from Matty....

Just a quick update on our life with a newborn...Matty has been developing into quite a personality and is a whole lot of fun, except for his newly developed "cranky period" which I saw once during his first few weeks of life but is going on 4 nights strait now. Around 11 each night, he is wide awake, cranky, and cries almost non stop. This has lasted until 3am one night, but usually subsides around 1am. They (all those books) say that this could be colic...not sure if it is or not but we are getting creative with ways to handle it and keep him happy and us sane. He's lucky he is so damn cute because even during those crying bouts, he is irresistible. Let's hope the batteries on the calming vibration chair don't run out too soon!

Matty also had his first bottle last night. We wanted him to get introduced to it early enough that he will be good with the bottle and still breastfeeding, as he will be in daycare after I go back to work. Andrew also likes the idea of feeding him too and having a little daddy bonding time. Here's a picture from our first attempt, he did really well! Now I just have to figure out a schedule of pumping and feeding him.

We are getting into a bit of a routine now and always looking for reasons to get out of the house. Yesterday Matty and I went to a Mommy and Me class that the hospital where we delivered runs. There was about 9 moms there with their babies and we all just sat around in bean bag chairs talking, asking questions and sharing advice. I wasn't sure I would like this kind of thing but actually it was great and I can see myself going every week. I met a mom who has a son that was born 2 days after Matty...his name is Andrew and her husband's name is Matthew! We got a kick out of that one!

No pictures from Mommy and Me but here's a few more recent pictures just for fun!

Little Squid...

For anyone who doesn't know...Andrew's nickname in college (and still his nickname to several of our friends) was Squid. Last year when we were in St John for our wedding, I saw this shirt and decided I needed to buy it for our future child some day...pink was the only choice of color! Oh well, we had a boy and had to subject him to the pink shirt...I think he pulled it off well!
