"Aunty Em, it's a twister!"
Last Friday night we decided to take advantage of some free local entertainment and went down to Veterans Park in Manchester for a production of "The Wizard of Oz" as performed by a group called the New Thalian Players. Each summer they do a new play but this is the first year we have taken advantage of it. We got there early to take in all the facinating "people watching" and make fun of the pre-show entertainment...as well as run into our smoking neighbor who proceeded to smoke during the entire show. The show was great and very similar to the movie but with a few extra songs and lines. Does anyone recall something in the original book or play called "The Jitterbug?"...it was a great addition. About half way through the play we were also treated to an impromptu "light show" courtesy of the storms passing through. Luckily, it never rained. There are 2 more performances this weekend, perhaps if we have nothing to do we will check it out again!
