Darryl...Darryl...

Now that I have strawberry on your mind.....
Today Denise and I marked the beginning of our fruit and veggie picking season
by going to McQuesten Farm in Litchfield to pick strawberries...

Here's what we came home with....

We picked five pounds of the berries..and ate a whole bunch as we were picking too...

The season will continue with blueberries next, followed by raspberries, then squash and peppers and finally, in the fall, apples...

More to come....

WALL-E

I have always been a fan of Pixar movies.....They are movies that are not only good to look at, but are also always great stories...Denise and I went to see the new Pixar Movie "WALL-E" yesterday.....We both agreed that it was probably one of the best movies we've seen in a while......A great story and pure eye candy....

On the downside was the movie theater experience....Granted it was 2:00 in the afternoon on a hot summer day but there were a few too many kids who just didn't know to keep their mouths shut..now I can only blame the kids so much..I blame their parents more for not taking responsiblity....In addition, some people just don't understand that if there are a lot of empty seats in the theater you don't sit in the seats right in front of someone else...and Finally....if you are going out in public..try showering (we had to get up and move because of a particularly smelly family that came and sat down near us during the previews)...

All in all it was a good day....

Make your own Sundae....

Ever since Andrew started visiting upstate NY wth me, he has been intrigued by Stewarts and their Make Your Own Sundaes, mostly because we pass about 100 of the stores on the way to my parents house and because he has heard my mom talk about how she used to get a make your own sundae there when she was a kid. Plus, who doesn't love being in control of your own ice cream toppings? Since we were visitng my parents and keeping my mom company as she recovers from knee surgery, we thought we would finally take advantage of the make your own sundae and hit a Stewarts. 10pm on Thursday night was a nice treat...marshmallow, chocolate sauce, jimmies, nuts, rainbow sprinkles, carmel, buttersotch...all as much as you want...who needs the ice cream since it was buried underneath anyway? Andrew enjoyed it and went into an ice cream coma and it was the most my mom ate since she had gotten out of the hospital the day before...mmmmm...the start of a great ice cream season....

Friday Night At Fenway!!!

As part of my birthday present Denise got us tickets to Friday night's red sox game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals..

The weather was schizophrenic that day..sunny and warm then rainy and cool then sunny and warm again.

We left New Hampshire and headed toward Boston...Of course we got stuck in friday afternoon traffic as we approached Beantown...

Our first stop was at El Pelon Taqueria...This is a great little Mexican place with outdoor seating just a few block from Fenway Park...

We then headed over to the game...The Red Sox were honoring the World Champion Boston Celtics as part of the pregame...We arrived just as the duckboats with the players were getting ready to enter the stadium....

We got to our seats and just as we sat down it started to pour..It did this for about 45 minutes or so.. We got totally soaked but we stayed there nonetheless.
Finally the Duckboats with the celtics came onto the field...

The rain subsided and a beautiful rainbow appeared over Fenway....The game finally started an hour and fifteen minutes late...

After standing in the rain for so long Denise never quite warmed up...
Here is a picture of us.. Notice she is bundled up...So much for it being the first day of summer..

The game itself was fun (albeit a little cold) ...However, the Sox struggled all night and left 11 men on base...The Cardinals prevailed 5-4...
